CLEP is your opportunity to test out of courses and earn your credits in less time for less money.
What is CLEP?
CLEP (the College-Level Examination Program) offers exams in a wide variety of different subjects to assess how much you already know about them, giving you a chance to earn college credits for the subjects you already excel in. By passing a CLEP exam, you have the opportunity to showcase your knowledge in a particular subject and potentially earn college credits without the need to take a corresponding college course. We understand that your time and financial resources are precious, which is why CLEP can be a real game-changer for you. You can save both time and money by fulfilling certain course requirements through successful CLEP exams.
How do I use it?
If you would like to take your CLEP exam for free, we highly recommend that you take advantage of Modern States. - Use the voucher code or follow the provided instructions to schedule and pay for your CLEP exam. The voucher will cover the cost of the exam fee.
When registering for a CLEP exam, we recommend that you choose “remote proctoring” rather than a testing center. (Taking a CLEP exam at an official testing center requires leaving campus. CIU is not a CLEP testing center.) To sign up for a CLEP exam using remote proctoring, you'll need to follow these steps:
- Visit the College Board website: Go to the official College Board website at www.collegeboard.org.
- Create an account or log in: If you don't have an account, you'll need to create one. If you already have an account, log in using your credentials.
- Locate the CLEP section: Once you're logged in, navigate to the CLEP section. Look for the option related to taking the CLEP exam with remote proctoring.
- Choose your exam: Select the specific CLEP exam you want to take from the available options. Make sure it is offered with remote proctoring.
- Check system requirements: Make sure your computer meets the technical requirements for remote proctoring. Ensure you have a stable internet connection, a webcam, and a microphone.
- Schedule your exam: Select a date and time for your CLEP exam. Check the available time slots and choose the one that works best for you.
- Make payment: Pay the exam fee using a credit or debit card. The cost of the CLEP exam will be displayed during the registration process.
- Receive confirmation: After completing the registration and payment, you should receive a confirmation email with important details regarding your remote proctored CLEP exam.
