Position Title: Children's Minister
Position Summary
Journey Church is seeking a Children's Minister to lead the children's ministry by creating engaging environments that help children grow in their understanding of who God is and what He has planned for their future. The role includes leading the children's ministry, developing volunteers, supporting parents, and working alongside the Lead Pastor and church staff to support the overall mission of the church.
Responsibilities
• Lead creative, engaging environments that help children grow in their understanding of who God is and what He has planned for their future.
• Teach the Bible clearly in a way that is consistent with the developmental stages of children and causes them to love learning about Jesus.
• Recruit, train, and inspire teams of volunteers to partner in ministry to children.
• Develop leaders and create culture in children's ministry.
• Consistently communicate vision and lead with passion and energy.
• Oversee all ministry needs for children from birth through 5th grade.
• Design ministry that encourages parents in their vital role of shaping their children spiritually and providing the loving foundation for their child's future.
• Work with the Lead Pastor and other staff so that all ministries of Journey support one another and the overall mission of the church.
• Under the oversight of the Lead Pastor and the Stewardship Team, develop, oversee, and monitor a Journey Kids Ministry budget that reflects the goals of reaching, encouraging, and discipling children and families.
• Plan and oversee special events throughout the year that connect the people of the church to one another, to Journey Kids Ministry, and to the community.
Spiritual Qualifications
• Committed follower of Jesus.
• Commitment to spiritual and personal growth.
• Increasingly grow in and exhibit the Fruit of the Spirit.
• A lifestyle consistent with the teachings of God's Word.
Experience/Characteristics
• Minimum of bachelor's degree preferred.
• 3–5 years experience in a similar field.
• Creative visionary.
• Organized and capable of leading growing systems.
• Strong relational skills.
• Team player.
