Position Summary
Youth and Family Ministry Pastor Overview & Expectations
- Oversee the teaching, care, activities, and mobilization of BBC youth ministry
- Run youth group meetings on Sunday nights (or whatever night is best)
- Teach youth Sunday school
- Attend sporting events, school programs, etc. for all youth/children (as able)
- Hold at least 15-office hours per week
- Commit to one service project per quarter
- Host/plan one fun event/outing per month (as able)
- Attend spring and fall youth rallies (retreats)
- Counsel at MTYC
- Game/movie nights (their discretion)
- Camping trips (their discretion)
- Oversee the Good New Club program (after a healthy observation period)
- Oversee the AWANA program (after a healthy observation period)
- Oversee/coordinate VBS for one week each summer w/ lead volunteers
- Coordinate w/ lead volunteers to make sure Children’s Church is operating smoothly*
- Attend all Sunday services (Lord’s Supper, Sunday school, Family Worship Hour)
- Attend weekly prayer meetings with Eddie and Duncan
- Provide elders with a monthly report of plans/goals for the elders’ meeting
- Commit to taking two days off per week as able (and communicate which days)**
Other ministry opportunities that are not expected, but available if youth and family pastor has time and desire:
- Praise team
- College ministry
- Small groups
- Anderson Oaks
- SummerFest (music/speaking)
- Participate in monthly prayer breakfasts (highly encouraged)
*No expectation for pastor to take over, but to be available to help, give input/feedback as able.
**We understand that some weeks will look different and be busier from others, but we want youtry to make sure you get enough rest
