The Student Computing Center (SCC Lab) is provided solely for the purpose of facilitating educational assignments of CIU students currently enrolled at the University.

The SCC Lab is host to nearly 30 computers running Windows 7 Enterprise. Each computer is equipped with Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise Suite (includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more!). Four of these computers have scanners installed for student use. All computers require login: students enrolled in classes use their unique MyCIU username/password combos to log into any of the SCC Lab computers.

File Storage
Students are encouraged to use their Google Drive cloud storage which is provided in tandem with their personal Student Email accounts 
(“”). Students and guests are also welcome to use USB storage drives or other personal storage methods.

Computer Classroom
Located on the 2nd floor of the Ridderhof Building, this classroom contains 15 computers with one instructor station, scanners and multimedia projector. Accounts are available for current students and alumni.

Alumni and Guest Usage
CIU administration recognizes the occasional need for alumni and guests to access SCC services for activities such as internet, printing, sermon preparation and other ministry communications. If you are not currently enrolled in courses at CIU, please refer to the Guest Information section further down the page for instructions on obtaining temporary access to the lab resources.

Every student is provided with $20 of printing credit each semester. Each SCC Lab computer has access to both Black & White and Color printers. A USB printer is also provided for students to print from personal laptops (located near the SCC Front Desk). In addition, our students are provided with a new web-based printing solution called WebPrint. WebPrint enables students to print wirelessly from any internet-connected device to any of the Lab printers.

Adding Printing Credit
If/when all printing credit has been used, students may add more money to their printing credit balance by using the self-deposit station located in the SCC Lab.

Self-Deposit Instructions

1. At the computer next to the deposit machine, enter your student Username and Password and click Deposit.

2. The screen will show your current account balance.

3. Insert coins or cash into the deposit machine next to the computer.

NOTE: The machine does not take pennies. Also note that if you are using bills, any change will be returned in coins.

4. Verify the amount you would like to deposit, then click Transfer.

5. Your account balance should now be updated.

6. Click Finish when you are through making transactions.

Visitors and Alumni are allowed limited access to SCC resources based on availability of seats. 

Temporary logins which provide access to SCC resources may be provided to Alumni and CIU guests.  In addition, printing services are available for a reasonable charge as noted in the Printing section above. 

Guests and Alumni must sign a "signup" sheet at the SCC front desk where they will also present a photo ID prior to receiving a temporary login. 

Student Computing Labs in the residence halls, Founders and Memorial, are provided strictly for the use of currently enrolled CIU students. Lab computers are also available in the Library and McQuilkin meso areas.-

University WiFi is free to all visitors.

Guests and visitors will be denied access to the SCC resources and services for the following infractions:

- use of login credentials of a faculty member, staff or student;

- refusal to abide by SCC rules of usage or conduct;
- refusal to comply with SCC staff directions in the event lab seats are not available for current students.

ResNet: CIU's Public Internet Access
Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests have the opportunity to connect their personal electronic devices (computers, tablets, smartphones) to CIU's high speed internet access network called ResNet for academic and campus visitation needs. Wireless internet is available in every building on campus. Residence halls have wired outlets in the rooms for physical connections if necessary.

How to connect:
• In the residence halls, simply connect your computer to one of the wired outlets in your room using an Ethernet cable.
• For wireless access, look for and connect to the CIUWifi wireless network.

Your computer must meet the following minimum requirements:
Windows XP or later, or Mac OS X  10.3 or later
At least 10mpbs Wired Ethernet, or 802.11b or g Wireless card
