Columbia International University is closed through Friday Oct. 9, due to the result of excessive flooding in the Columbia area. Essential staff members who can make it to campus should consult their supervisor and report to CIU the rest of this week.

Because portions of Monticello Road are closed, essential staff members will need to find alternate routes onto campus.

CIU will open for classes and all employees on Monday.

Student Computing Center

The Student Computing Center (SCC Lab) is provided solely for the purpose of facilitating educational assignments of CIU students currently enrolled at the University.

The SCC Lab is host to nearly 30 computers running Windows 7 Enterprise. Each computer is equipped with Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise Suite (includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more!). Four of these computers have scanners installed for student use. All computers require login: students enrolled in classes use their unique MyCIU username/password combos to log into any of the SCC Lab computers.

File Storage

Students are encouraged to use their Google Drive cloud storage which is provided in tandem with their personal Student Email accounts (“”). Students and guests are also welcome to use USB storage drives or other personal storage methods.

Computer Classroom

Located on the 2nd floor of the Ridderhof Building, this classroom contains 15 computers with one instructor station, scanners and multimedia projector. Accounts are available for current students and alumni.

Alumni and Guest Usage

CIU administration recognizes the occasional need for alumni and guests to access SCC services for activities such as internet, printing, sermon preparation and other ministry communications. If you are not currently enrolled in courses at CIU, please refer to the Guest Information section further down the page for instructions on obtaining temporary access to the lab resources.

IT Support

The SCC is here to provide you with the tools that will assist you in getting the most out of your time at CIU. We hope you find these resources and services helpful and accessible. In case of any questions or need of assistance, please visit the IT Support Page here on MyCIU.

Wireless internet is available in every building on campus. Residence halls have wired outlets in the rooms for physical connections if necessary.

How to connect

  • In the residence halls, simply connect your computer to one of the wired outlets in your room using an Ethernet cable.
  • For wireless access, look for and connect to the CIUWifi wireless network.

Your computer must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Windows XP or later, or Mac OS X 10.3 or later
