Chad Burnett : RA

What brought you to CIU?
I wanted to seriously study God’s word and grow in my personal walk with the Lord through my education and the Christian community.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? Anywhere that I could serve the Lord and others by teaching his word! I haven’t really thought of a specific place.

What did you eat for breakfast? Oatmeal with milk and peanut butter and a banana!

Word of advice for new, incoming students? Get to know people (it’s a unique community that is so special) but find a core group of friends that spur you on in your walk with the Lord and that know how to have fun!

Kevin Keckeisen: RA

What brought you to CIU? I had a youth pastor that really invested into my spiritual growth and he was a CIU grad, and always talked about it was a place where the Lord could grow people in significant ways.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?  New Zealand or Switzerland!  Basically places with great mountains and beautiful sites.  Those two places have both of those and then some.

What did you eat for breakfast? in cup of Black as night coffee that was freshly ground, and filtered using a pour over!  Thats all I need for breakfast.

Word of advice for new, incoming students?  GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN! Just kidding.  CIU is a great place where the community can grow you closer to the Lord, but only if you invest into the community.  So take the time to meet people, make friends, and encourage one another.  You have to seek out fellowship and accountability, because those are the makings of authentic community and Christ uses authentic community to grow us in ways you would never think to be possible!

What brought you to CIU? I've known about CIU since I was a child. When it came time to choose a school

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? New Zealand, I want to see the places that the Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed.

What did you eat for breakfast? Cookies.

Word of advice for new, incoming students? Keep your friends close, they'll help you through all of the hard times that you have to face through your time here.

What brought you to CIU? I visited CIU during my senior year of high school and I fell in love with the community that CIU has to offer in the residence halls and even with the Faculty/Staff!

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? Australia! I've always wanted to go scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef. It's on my bucket list and hopefully I'll get the chance to one day.

What did you eat for breakfast? To start, I had 2 fluffy buttermilk pancakes lightly glazed with rich yet smooth maple syrup. Then I had a side of evenly-cooked hashbrowns topped with some zesty ketchup. Next, I enjoyed a small portion of steel-cut oatmeal perfectly seasoned with cinnamon and brown sugar. And to top it all off, I washed it all down with a glass of CIU's finest chocolate milk.

Word of advice for new, incoming students? Come to CIU ready to grow and learn but also leave a lot of room to enjoy the time with your friends. Make a lot of memories that will make you happy to look back at your time at CIU.

What brought you to CIU?
A long winding road of stubbornness, hard work, and God's provision (mainly God though).

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Either Spain, Greece, or Israel. I think the first two are beautiful and the last one because I wanna walk where Jesus walked!

What did you eat for breakfast?
Gum. I like to start my days off right.

Word of advice for new, incoming students?
Be yourself! And don't wait to get plugged in to campus life, you definitely won't regret it!

What brought you to CIU?
I transferred from North Greenville University to CIU as an incoming sophomore. I really liked the idea of a smaller campus with a close-knit community, as well as the emphasis on holistic and Biblically-centered curriculum.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
New Zealand because it’s beautiful.

What did you eat for breakfast? Turkey sausage.

Word of advice for new, incoming students?
Embrace the community and choose right now to be presently focused- not dwelling on the regrets of yesterday or worrying about tomorrow, but communing with God and fellowshipping with others in each present moment. Also, don’t allow yourself to fall into the box of other people’s expectations, but be intentionally authentic. God has uniquely designed you and He is calling forth your destiny. Abide in Him and let Him call forth the potential He has placed within you. Part of living authentically is good communication- do it honestly and graciously. And when life gets tough (and trust me, it will), don’t be afraid to ask for help. There are people who are eagerly waiting to love and care for you, but you have to take that first step of faith and seek them out.

What brought you to CIU?
After visiting CIU, I saw that it was different than any of the other colleges I had visited. The students were genuine, the professors were personable, and the community was very welcoming!

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I would go to Australia because I want to scuba dive on the Great Barrier Reef!

What did you eat for breakfast?
Grapes, yogurt, and granola...and coffee of course!

Word of advice for new, incoming students?
Have fun and be yourself! Come in with a teachable, humble attitude and allow the Lord to move in your life while you are here.

What brought you to CIU?
Oh man. Fully the Lord on that one. I tried everything to not come here, including my applying to 12 other schools. The Lord made it clear through slamming those doors shut that CIU was where I was suppose to be.  Took me a good part of my freshman year to lay down my pride and see that this school was perfect for me. :)

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
IRELAND!! I love leprechauns.  Just kidding. I actually just love castles and the beauty that Ireland holds.

Word of advice for new, incoming students? Contend with the Lord.  Allow this season of life to be where your faith is made strong and real- no longer your parents or your youth pastors faith, but yours.  Don't be afraid to question the Lord- he is not afraid of your questions.  Fight the fight of faith and be passionate about finding truth.
