1. Open the Session Definition window.
2. Select the Show on Web check box for each session to be available for selection in the Default Student Life Term drop-down on the Customize portlet Residence Information screen in JICS.
3. Save.
Configuration settings in JICS can be done by roles with permission to access and administer global and portlet settings.

1. Log in as the JICS administrator.
2. From the My Residence Preferences portlet, click the wrench icon ().
3. On the Customize Portlet Room and Roommate Preferences page, click the Settings tab.
a. In the Default Student Life Term drop-down list, select the default Year and Term (Session) for which room and roommate preferences information for the student will be displayed. This setting only affects this instance of the My Residence Preferences portlet. All other places where the My Residence Preferences portlet appears will not use the same settings.
b. Click the Save button.
4. Click the Exit button.
1. Log in as the JICS administrator.
2. From the My Residence Preferences portlet, click the Set Options option.
3. On the Portal User Options page, select the Name Search Options that your school wishes to have the Name Search process in the My Residence Preferences portlet use.
a. If you select the Search Using Phonetic Match check box, Name Search attempts to find a name using a phonetic or Soundex match.
i. If you select the Search Using Primary Name check box, Name Search attempts to find a name using the LAST_NAME, FIRST_NAME, and/or MIDDLE_NAME fields in the ID record.
ii. If you select the Search Using the Alternate Name Types check box, Name Search attempts to find a name using the NICKNAME, PREFERRED_NAME, and/or BIRTH_NAME fields in the ID record.
4. Click the Save button.
