CIU provides limited clinical counseling services for students dealing with personal issues. Please contact Lainie McWilliams at 803.807.5236 for more information on our counseling services for current students.

CIU Student Services invites you to our online mental health screening. This screening instrument can be helpful in better understanding a number of disorders such as depression, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, anxiety, and post traumatic stress disorder. This free screening is made available to all CIU students and is taken anonymously. The results of your screening are not made known to any one else. The screening is provided so that you may find out - in a few minutes - whether or not professional consultation would be helpful to you.

The Personal Enrichment Program (PEP) provides CIU undergraduate students a structured counseling intervention through the College of Counseling (COC) graduate students enrolled in the CNS 6912 Advanced Counseling Techniques & Practicum course. These graduate students provide the counseling and support services under the supervision of the course professors.

PEP offers quality counseling and support services to help CIU undergraduate students enhance or “enrich” their overall personal and spiritual well-being. Undergraduate students who may need assistance with their academic performance are appropriate for PEP, as well as other undergraduate students who are interested in enriching their overall experience while a student at CIU.  Interested students are welcome to participate in the PEP Program during the fall semester by meeting weekly with a PEP counselor.  Interventions provided will be aimed at enhancing the students’ chances for success in completing the semester.  PEP services focus on academic and personal needs or issues limited to minor or life adjustments in nature, such as, interpersonal relationships, communication skills, coping skills, anxiety and stress management, time management, study skills, prioritizing, and healthy boundary setting.
